The team at Robinson Gill are delighted to announce that our very own Jacinta Richards has been elected as the new president of the Eastern Solicitors Law Association (“ESLA”).
The ESLA are a local sub-group of the Law Institute of Victoria (“LIV”), covering the eastern suburbs (from Hawthorn and Kew to Wellington Road and the Dandenongs). Jacinta is a solicitor in our personal injury team.
A collaborative effort, the ESLA forms a key connection between local lawyers and the LIV. Its committee and members work to promote links between legal practitioners in the area through regular meetings, and provide updates on changes in the law through guest speakers and CPD events. The group also acts as a mouthpiece to voice community comments and concerns directly back to the LIV.
Following a recent quiet period as a result of the pandemic, the ESLA are back and ready to amplify their community activities as they head into 2022. Jacinta is passionate about ensuring that the group provides real value to its members, and that it allows all community voices to be heard. Her key areas of focus for the year are:
- Community: Jacinta will foster closer engagement with the ESLA community, and plans to create an online community to make it easier for members to connect;
- Expansion: This year will see a push to grow and strengthen the group’s membership base, including an increase in the range of member benefits on offer and significant discounts on CPD events; and
- Training: 2022 will bring community CPD dinner and networking functions back with a bang - with a variety of events in the pipeline covering key legal and business skills.
The first of this year’s training events will commence on 15 March, with a CPD seminar dinner to be held at the Vogue Ballroom in Burwood East. The community will welcome two key speakers - Michael Dolan of the Law Institute of Victoria (speaking on recent developments in Ethics), and Paul Evans of Toro Digital (speaking on how to attract new clients and referrers to legal practices in 2022).
Jacinta is pleased to be accepting her new appointment. She said, “I am thrilled to have been elected as president of the ESLA. I am very much looking forward to working with the Committee over the next 12 months to grow, connect and invigorate our membership.”
Tim Robinson, Managing and Founding Principal at Robinson Gill, also congratulated Jacinta on her new post. He said, “We are incredibly proud to hear of Jacinta’s appointment. She is a serious asset to our personal injury team - we’re confident that the ESLA is in good hands!”.
The ESLA are actively looking for members to join the committee. Are you a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, living or working in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne? Are you interested in getting involved with your local community? If so, get in touch with Jacinta here.
