Amy Hale

Amy is a dedicated criminal defence lawyer who values thorough preparation, considered advocacy and tailoring her approach for each client’s unique circumstances. She is particularly passionate about therapeutic outcomes for individuals facing criminal prosecution and defending their rights.

Prior to working at Robinson Gill, Amy was an Associate to his Honour Justice Croucher at the Supreme Court of Victoria. She assisted his Honour with homicide trials, pleas, bail applications, complex evidentiary rulings, appeals, as well as learned from the most competent counsel in Victoria. Amy also gained experience with matters pursuant to the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997 and the Serious Offenders Act 2018 during this role.

She has also had experience working as a solicitor in a private criminal defence firm where she had carriage of summary and indictable files, and appeared regularly in the Magistrates’ Court, Children’s Court and County Court.

At Robinson Gill, Amy enjoys undertaking her own advocacy and in particular, appearing in bail applications and complex plea hearings. She currently manages a diverse file load of criminal and intervention order matters, and looks forward to expanding her practice into the coronial jurisdiction, as well as quasi-criminal law.

At university, Amy graduated with an L.L.B (Hons) degree and an Arts degree, with a major in Criminology. As such, she understands the drivers underpinning the commission of crime and seeks to obtain outcomes that account for the totality of what leads a person to court, and how to divert them away from the justice system in the future.
