A savvy business lawyer with a focus in building and construction
Max is an integral member of the firm's business, commercial property and commercial disputes team. He has particular experience working with property owners, developers and builders and supporting them in contentious disputes.
For a lawyer who has built his practice in building and construction, he has a significant amount of experience helping investors, developers and business people structure mergers and acquisitions, drafting contracts, joint ventures and agreements and restructuring and insolvency.
He uses this experience, as well as a background in commercial litigation to his client's advantage when negotiating with other parties. Max also has advised local and foreign clients in regulatory compliance.
Advising professionals and businesses on white-collar crime
Prior to joining Robinson Gill, Max spent three years working as a Senior Associate in the Supreme Court of Victoria. In this role, he was involved in a number of very high profile cases and it's through this experience that he built a very robust understanding of how prosecutions work within the court system.
When pairing this with his undergraduate degree in Business and Masters of Accounting, he has built a strong practice supporting professionals and businesses on white-collar crime.
He has a wealth of experience in defending clients, in both criminal cases involving government bodies and regulators, and is also adept at supporting clients in civil proceedings.
Life experience that clients benefit from
Max doesn't have the typical experience of most commercial disputes and building and construction lawyers. His work in the courts system has seen him work on projects that many lawyers can only dream of, including royal commissions and high profile corporate cases.
Before practising as a lawyer, he was an Infantry Scout Commander with the Singapore military service. He also volunteered as Pro Bono Lawyer for a Senior Rights Legal Clinic and JusticeNet in South Australia.
Max is fluent in both English and Chinese Mandarin.
